There are a number of liturgical music ministries within St. Bartholomew Parish in which interested parishioners may participate. Our director of music and worship, Dr. Eugene M. Dangelo, is a certified professional music educator and composer. Dr. Dangelo supervises and facilitates the overall music and worship program.
The Liturgical Music Ministries currently include:
- The Schola Cantorum Adult Choir (Ages 16+)
- The Cantor/Psalmist Program
- The Resurrection & Matin Choir (Funeral Choir)
- The Instrumentalist Ministries (Any Instrument)
- The Youth Choir (Ages 11-15)
To be a member of the cantor or choir ministries, one must have a pleasing voice and the desire to serve the Lord in song. Although the ability to read music is always helpful, it is not necessary in order to be a cantor or a choir member. Dr. Dangelo will provide the necessary training to sing the music of the liturgy. People who play brass, woodwind, string, percussion or keyboard musical instruments and read standard musical notation for those instruments may participate in the many instrumental music ministries, which are available within the church.
The adult choir and the cantors meet every Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. in St. Bartholomew Church.
The St. Bartholomew adult choir liturgy is Sunday at 10:30 a.m. The choir season is from September through June.
Rehearsals for the youth choir are coordinated with the CCD instructional program on a regular basis.
If you are interested in, or have any questions about, any of these music ministries, please contact Dr. Eugene Dangelo.
